1. Sources of energy

A substance that is converted by process into usable energy is called source of energy. Examples are coal, gas, oil, and wood. Sources of energy are classified into two types.

Renewable Energy: Renewable energy is derived from natural processes that are replaced constantly such as solar, biomass, ocean, hydropower, wind, biomass, geothermal resources, and biofuels and hydrogen. Various types of renewable energy: Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Water and geothermal, Biomass and Biofuels.

Non Renewable energy: Coal and Oil are the non-renewable sources of energy. These are known as fossil fuels as they are products of plants that lived thousands of years ago. Fossil fuels are the predominantly used energy sources today. Environmental pollution is caused by burning fuels.
